ABOUT THE CHALLENGE PROGRAM

The world is full of challenges. Which ones will your teen solve as they build their careers?

The Challenge Program is a self-guided, interactive course designed to help young people discover new ways of looking at themselves and their future. By flipping the traditional approach to career development, the Challenge Program helps young people focus on real-world challenges, not job titles.

The program brings together a curated selection of the best inspirational and informative content, exercises, and resources to help students navigate the journey. Through videos, quizzes, self-guided study, journaling, and one-on-one coaching sessions, your teen will learn:

  • How to design a satisfying career
  • How to identify their values, interests, and strengths
  • How to research and explore the world of work
  • How to discover the right education program
  • How to take those critical next steps towards success

At the end of the process, your teen will feel confident about their choices and inspired by the impact their unique talents can make on the world.

JP Michel

JP Michel is the creator of the Challenge mindset and the founder of SparkPath, the company behind the Challenge Cards. There are over 20,000 decks of Challenge Cards in use around the world that help students find inspiring challenges to solve, instead of job titles to fit into. JP holds a masters degree in industrial-organizational psychology from the University of Manchester and a degree in psychology from the University of Ottawa. He is also recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Career Professional award from the Career Professionals of Canada.

How long does the program take to complete?
The program is self-paced and students can take as much time as they need to complete the program. The coursework takes approximately 10 hours to complete, and most students finish the program within three months.
What if my teen needs more time to complete the program?
If your child needs more time for any reason, you can extend your access to the program materials for up to a year at no additional cost.
Can I receive updates on my teen's progress?
Upon request, SparkPath can send you an email notification when your teen completes a phase of the curriculum.
My teen has been frustrated by other career programs. How is this program different?
The Challenge Program was designed to maximize engagement by providing a mix of videos, interactive content, journaling, and self-guided exercises that introduce young people to a new way of looking at their future. They explore the world challenges that they care about most before learning how to create success for themselves by pursuing an educational path that prepares them to solve those challenges.
What happens during the coaching sessions?
Each one-hour coaching session gives your teen an opportunity to review their progress, ask questions, and talk about the future with someone they can connect with and who will listen deeply to them. Coaching is designed to complement their self-directed activities, help them deal with obstacles, and propel their reflection forward.
What if I am unhappy with the program?
The Challenge Mindset has a high rate of success, helping hundreds of young people break through the confusion and become more confident and purposeful innovative by flipping traditional career pathing and putting purpose ahead of job titles. However, if you are unhappy with the program for any reason, you may cancel your account within the first 30 days to receive a refund for the full amount.
